London Beauty Week launches

The British Beauty Council and Covent Garden have launched the first ever London Beauty Week today as a five-day celebration of the £27.2billion UK beauty industry.

Held from the 11th-15th September, the event will bring together some of the most influential industry voices to celebrate trends, showcase new product launches and host supper clubs and beauty workshops, as well as holding discussions on the future of the industry.

The launch follows statistics recently released by the British Beauty Council, which show that there are 600,000 beauty industry jobs within the country and reveal the total value of beauty consumption in the UK to be £27.2billion, with consumers spending £3billion on cosmetic products in 2018. With a focus on the future of the industry, Britain's Next Big Beauty Brand competition will launch during the week, offering start-up beauty companies the chance to win beauty business mentoring from experts and a central London retail space.

Millie Kendall, MBE and CEO of The British Beauty Council, says, “The British Beauty Council are delighted to be working with founding patron Covent Garden in creating this dynamic experiential week of beauty. Beauty is a buoyant sector and contributes significantly to the UK economy. As a growing industry that is a force for good, we are focused on supporting brands and creating jobs via our three pillars; reputation, education and innovation.”
