Event highlights salon sustainability

This November, Phorest Salon Software hosted Conscious Hair and Beauty; an event designed to look at the importance of sustainability and wellness within the salon industry.
Held at the OXO2 in London, the occasion welcomed hair and beauty salon owners to learn and discuss the steps both sectors can take to make a difference.
Clare Cockell, mindset teacher and owner of the Reef Spa in Kent, shared insight into the importance of looking after yourself, as well as your team. Professor Denise Baden, a professor at the University of Southampton and founder of the Eco Hair and Beauty programme, was also in attendance to discuss her bespoke training programmes which are designed to help stylists and salons obtain their eco certifications.
During the event, the “Sustainable Success Stories Panel” consisted of Jennie Lawson, owner of Mimosa Beauty in Essex; Anne Veck and Keith Mellen, owners of Anne Veck Salons and Rachael Kennedy, owner of Gronn Hairdressing in Bury. Each panellist revealed the steps they've taken to become sustainable salons, the investment it took and the results it's achieved, which include increased client retention and new business generation.
